Hi,
Hello Gauthier, Grundig hifi-box 650 and 850 ("a" version) are some of the best speaker ever built. They sound amazing when driven by a Grundig chain (look at my webpage http://motxam.interfree.it/Agrundig.html for informations about amps and sources to use), better than any "high-end" loudspeaker today on the market.I suggest to NOT recap their crossover: these Grundig speakers are going to sound worse if recapped. I suggest to recap ONLY in case some cap is faulty or drifts excessively in capacitance value. Regards Massimo Hi Massimo, you know what? I feel very stupid!!
I removed the original speaker terminator a few months ago to put in place some standard (cheap)
Others terminations (different to standard point-line) are very worse on sound...
to allow connect the speakers with any kind of cable... and I'm wondering know if I did not reverse the wires!
There is one yellow and one black, and it looks like bass are far better when I connect the cable using the yellow cable as negative and black as positive. But as far a I remember, I paid attention to the way wires should have soldered on the replacement terminator... do you have by any chance an advice to check that without opening the speakers? I'd like not to open them too often, to keep the wool inside in a good placement...
Thanks by advance ;)
Gauthier
You can connect a 1,5Volt battery: when woofer cone comes out the battery + corresponds to positive polarity of speakers. Regards Massimo |

hallo. Hello Leonard the Linear Tranfer modification is a technical update made by myself and it is possible for the most of the cdplayers. This modification involves deeply the chassis of the equipment and it requires the maximum linearity and transparency by all the hifi chain. This is the reason why the zero oversampling does not match well the LT mod. For the same reason I strongly suggest to complete the hifi chain with LT amplifiers/speakers or some old Grundig amplifiers/speakers featuring a similar chassis technique, see my website for further details. Hello
I bought some sonny Cd (to make some DIY) from one guy from my neighborhood. I met this guy I know that he is a bigger audio freak then I :-) We agreed that we love some vintage audio, and he said to me only Grundig man, only German stuff or Sanyo :-) If you don't believe me listen and visit http://motxam.interfree.it :)))
So I visited your site and read about this Grundig stuff and I'm interested in it :) I know I got some occasion to buy Grundig V35 and I got some question. Is there any chance that I will hear the difference using the Grundig CCI with an old non CCI speakers and CD? Or should I transform all audio to CCI. This is quite important to me because if I have to modify all audio equipment I'll not buy this Grundig but if there is any chance to "feel" the difference I'll buy it.
I will by very grateful for your help great site
Best regards
Hello If we imagine to take a look at a landscape through some windows (each of them represents a component of your hifi system), we will see perfectly the landscape only if EACH window is completely transparent, undistorted and uncoloured. Just one distorted window can compromise and damage irrevocably the result. This is the reason why I suggest to listen to a system composed entirely by Grundig or Linear Transfer components!
For others occasions I answer only to e-mail signed. Regards Massimo Ambrosini

Hi!
Hi
Kresimir |
|
for more then 40 years i am
an audio enthusiast and melomane and music player, had for 5 years even
an audio shop in brussels with 2hand equipment and even new , so after
years of trial and error and hearing some amplifiers sounding realy bad
...i must agree with your experiences of most of yours and made some
musician very happy with active box 40s but the v7000 on tads 1102 with
heil tweeters play even better, and so went out a bel canto evo6 that
cosed 5000 euros...against the 100 euros for the grundig, the only amp
that came close was a rogers valve el84 i will soon test the grundig
amps on very high efficiency speakers so to avoid clipping at high
levels, but to be frankly since i listen to the grundigs i listen more
relaxed at low levels and hear all the details, with the bel canto it
was like lots of the mics were distorting or clipping!!!and i got
nervous and thought it was a problem on the records or the radio but no
with th v7000 all came in harmony ,you cannot tell if its a transistor
or valve here , even the bass is tremendous quality for such a small amp
amazing, i use a camtech 8000q aspassive volume with remote so i have
that convenience, and also used a passive active cross over from cerwin
vega that filters the amps at 250 hz to drive subs from jbl or atc with
amazing results, it was far better then the quad 606 who is rated more
watts....there is something with the timbre of the instruments and the
scale that is magic and very realistic, and that is missing in most of
the amps....25 years ago i had the electrocompaniet class a who was
musical beyond the competition, the audio research classic 60 with
yamaha ns1000ms had some qualities aswell but still since i am on the
grundig v7000 i have 5 of them ,i dropped the search for others i also
have the ps 1020 to test , and curious about the cd's,for now i am
running with sony 557 esd and rega io.... Thank
for your beautiful e-mail. I am happy that you have appreciate my work.
yes Massimo you are a great person , because honoustly i was too snob to test an amplifier that even has no wbt speaker output...and din connections lots of even experienced audiofreaks would pass for it and even not truy it out, but since your opinion on the other equipment is about the same then i experienced like for the rogers or the quads or the B&W's and the krell , i took it more serious and tried it out another well sounding litlle amp is the myst it worked even better with the rogers ls3/5a then the classic 60...but i never tried the grundig on them since its fairly new these experiences , and i test about one year before i put out an opinion , i also appreciate the site of the polish who modifies cd outputs but didn't truy yet these modifications , except that i like the atc's the mid dome is amazing and what so strange with a grundig amp that i listen at more easy listeninglevels so my neighbours are happy , its so clear and high resolution that you don't need to push the volume loud you can imagine how deceived i am with amplified concerts most of the time horrible , distorted and way too loud since i go to concerts with acoustic instruments like big symphonies from the year of 5 i am used too good sound , the grundig activ 40 i sold at a friend who is building violins ...he was astonished by the accuracy of the timbre, he works together with my cousin who is a professioal violin player and plays aswell on a guarnerius and also has an absolute hearing so we are all very critical , i ll let you know more after testing with a 105db/w horn system my regards bart

Dear Massimo, ...the music has more rythms and is more alive.
This is the plus of full CCI technologies... music more alive! :-)
Do you recommend to keep the amp "on" at all time? I find that the sound of the amp is much better 3 to 4 hours after switched on, though the sound is already very good just after switched on.
I think that isn’t necessary...five minutes before listening is sufficient.
I would like to thank you very much for this upgrade and the replacement of the volume control. I will play more different kinds of music and let you know more of my listening feeling later.
I am happy :-). Please Michael...don’t forget some link to possible distributors LT in Hong Kong. Best Regards Massimo

Dear Sirs,
I keep reading your Blog. But still wish to ask one question.
If we were to choose speakers from Grundig brand, then what is the preferred speaker for MA10wifi, V7000 and V1700
I just know that V1700 requires speaker with impedance 8 or more. I am also aware that particular model speaker is dependant on size of room. But you can advise the readers like me to guide about matching speaker.
Dear Kiran
I get a feeling that (V7000 and Box 300) and (XV-7500 & aktive 40) are your favourite combinations. Am i right? So what is the matching speaker for MA10wifi? is it DSL? But DSL is expensive. We want something from Grundig range. And i also get a feeling that V1700 is your favourite integrated. So request you to guide matching speaker from Grundig. I am asking the above for my friend who is also obsessed with your CCI.
Aktive 40 is my next buy. I am saving money for it.
Best Regards Kiran Vaidya
About “full CCI amps” there isn’t difference about “matching speakers”…I haven’t a feeling about a specific Grundig amp, many Grundig models are full CCI : all are very transparent and all have a frequency response very independent to load (you can see technical tests )…only a little difference is present between LT amps and Grundig amps: on Grundig amps you can’t be excluded the tones (only Grundig preamplifiers have this possibility)...for this reason frequency response on LT is more flat (a little bit advantage however…)

Dear Sirs
After long gap i am writting to you. I was busy with my household matters like school admission etc. Yesterday for the first time i heard PS-1020 with NOS n75 GT2 at 0.75 force. Fortunately i was able to buy NOS N91G(grey), N91GD(red) from ebay. I also bought used N75GT2 here locally. So now i have 3 spare cartridges. Apart from above, i have bought one cartridge made in mexico at ebay also. Your remarks about this turntable is spot on. The turntable sounds extremely good. I have no words to express them. I can not say they sound best in the world but certainly at this price they sound best in the world. I request you to post my email on your "communication" section so the readers can get true feedback.
You had suggested me Xv-7500 and i bought it. The experience was amazing. I am using it everyday. Your suggestion ps-1020 is also perfect. Extremely good.
Now i still have v7000 or v1700, 7500 tuner, Cd-7500 or 7550 and aktive 40 on my wishlist.
Unfortunately my financial position is not that great. But once i am better off i wish to buy Aktive 40.
This message is for expressing sincere thanks to you.
Best Regards Kiran xxxxx ---------------------- Dear Sirs I saw Aktive 40 at ebay germany item number 150618596510 Do you think i should bid? Best Regards Kiran Dear Kiran How you can read on my website: I recommend mostly aktiv mod.LT to passive solution (box850a/1500a/2500a) with amp LT (and I say it versus my interest) while, conversely, if you leave the aktiv "standard" (with no CCImod.) I recommend mostly the passive series + Grundig or LT amplifier (full CCI).
>Do you have CD-7500 or v7000?
Not for sell. The only Grundig models that I have to sell are PS1020 and XV7500 because I use them for complete LT systems. Regards Massimo
Dear sirs,
Thanks for your email. I am fully aware that CCI is necessary for aktive 40. i was saying bidding and sending it to you for CCI. This particular pair of aktive look in very good condition. I will always listen to you because my experience of Xv-7500 and ps-1020 was excellent.
Best regards Kiran |

I bought Grundig v1700,
it function with no problem, but I realized it was repaired sometime
in the past. There are changed components on one channel,
near output transistors. Dear Edin It’s difficult to say if it’s still CCI...repairs aren’t all good…
I also have V1850. It is in original state, no repairs and works
with no problems. What amplifier is your sugestion to use with my
speakers which are 650 Professional in room about Yes, but for your room I advice Box850a or box1500a.
I use PC as sound source.
I made Atom based PC, totaly silent, without any fan,
connecetd to my DIY DAC (using output trafo's instead of opamps). I
put PC components in old Technics amplifier case, so it look as hifi
component. Is PC as source of signal is problem for Grundig CCI
setup? I am pleased with sound, but wonder
could I extract more performnce? There is a great difference if source is not CCI…the better solution that I have heard for pc source is the Apple Airport integrated in a full CCI LT MA10 amplifier. However if you are curious of listen difference between full CCI source and your, you can buy a Grundig full CCI cd player on e-bay . Regards Massimo

Dear Massimo! It's a long time since our meeting. I still spend a lot of time with grundig, but recently me and my friends have transfered our records collections to hard drive and we tried to play them through Foobar and laptop. Do you know any simple external DAC which would work with CCI equipment corectly, or at least in the best possible quality? My cd's I play with grundig but I have many of them from my friends - that's wat can be played with external DAC. Maybe You did some CCI modiffication to an comercially aviable DAC? How to get best sound from laptop and CCI grundig?
Regards! pawel.
Dear Pawel How are you? The only solution full CCI that I purpose for lovers of “liquid music” is the integration of MA10 with Apple Airport: http://motxam.interfree.it/Alineartransfer.html The solution with a DAC mod CCI is possible but the system is not full CCI when you connect with wire a source no CCI to DAC CCI. Cd players full CCI are still a bit better of Airport integrated on MA10 but no so much. Best Regards Massimo
Hello! I'm really OK! I wonder if connecting airport to pre 7500 would also be possible or it need special modiffication? How would work the airport alone? Did you try it? Thanks for fast response!:) Do you have any active box 40 with modiffication for sale? Once again - thanks a lot!!!
With Airport direct to xv7500 you obtain a partial CCI sound. I have aktiv40 mod LT but are you sure that it’s the right box for your room? Do you have a big room with listening point distant to rear wall?
Best Regards
Hi! I think my room will be ok, but I still think I wait for DSL:), just thinking all the time. My seat is 1.5 m from rear wall. room is ca. 30 square m. Has LT 10 enough power to drive DSL? I have other quotations but what would be cost of LT 10 with air port? Is this a big loss of quality with air port alone?
Again many questions!!!? Thats all started with you:) Many thanks again!! Say hello to your familly!!
Ok in this room aktiv40 is ok if you put its near to rear speaker wall. MA10 airport 50W /ch with phono have a cost of 2300eur. Airport is switch off (must swich off…is present another switch on rear panel of amp) when you listen others inputs. MA10 haven’t problems with DSL. However if in a later time you would past to solution XV7500+LT power amp (MA50 or MA100) I value the retreat of MA10 at the same price that you pay to me. Airport integrated isn’t a big loss respect a full CCI cd player (cd7500 or CD960 mod LT) but however is present a loss…but at the moment I don’t know a better solution of this for “liquid music”. It is also important that the pc is supply to battery for best solution. Best Regards Massimo

Good evening Massimo,
Thank you for your response. I'm sorry, I hadn't seen this page about cable. I've tried to find the reference GBC mod. CA 201, but I can't find it on the web. The only reference I find with CA 201 is from Real Cable ( http://www.real-cable.com/par-produits/audio/stereo-rca/ca-201-details-73.html ). Is it the reference you talk about, or is another reference? Actually I can't find GBC cables on google...
The GBC cable have changed name...now have only a code : http://www.gbconline.it/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=45666&category_id=831&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
About the speaker, would you use the hama over the vivanco, since I've found both on internet. Could you tell me the exact reference of the 0.75mm hama?
Thank you again,
Sebastien xxxxxx

Now i have following things on my wish list
1. PS1020 with cover + M85G +
N75GT2 (original Shure NOS) checked CCI = 400eur What happens if N75GT2 breaks? do you have spare? if yes, what is the Price?
Sorry but I can’t offer discount on this turntable...I think to upper ( in a short time) price because the original stylus for M85G ( the N91G or the equivalent N75GT2 ) are very very rare stylus. This is the only big problem of this top music enjoy turntable…very rare find original stylus. I can supply only one stylus for each turntable…for others stylus you can search on ebay.
2. V1700 Integrated and Speaker 300 Per your last mail, we should buy from ebay Germany and send to it you. This is ok. Please advise your Shipping address. It it difficult to ship to Italy? Any precaution/instruction i have to request the seller? About declared value ? how mush should value should i request? Any problem of Custom duty? How long does it take to reach you from Germany? Do you do CCI test on Speaker model 300? if yes, how much is fees?
There are no customs between countries of the European community, no problems for shipping Germany to Italy. I don’t advice V1700 to drive box300 for impedance problems: frequently V1700 broken with box 300… If you want box 300 I advice V7000, V20, V30, all large series receivers etc. However box 300 have need a very little room and put on a shelf….and experience with Grundig products…it’not a easy speaker for starting…
3. Aktive 30 or 40 My room is 20 * 25 Sq. Feet.(500 sq. Feet) I think it is big. maybe Model 40 Aktive would be better option. Please advise your opinion.
Yes, Aktiv 40
One more simple question. Why CCI for Aktive Speaker is so expensive (500Euros) whereas amplifer v1700 is Euro 70.
On Aktiv speakers I execute a proprietary CCI modify because the standard Aktiv are not full CCI, on V1700 (or all others Grundig full CCI amplifiers) I execute only a check/set-up for back to the original conditions of them (these are standard full CCI)
Did Grundig made any good cassette Deck? Do you have any interest in Grundigs Cassette Decks? Is CCI can be made applicable to Cassete Deck too? if yes, How to get the Belts and Pinch Rollers to this cassette Decks? I am using Tandberg 3014A Deck. I love Cassette Decks too.
Also many cassette deck have the fantastic full CCI sound but also have a big problem : alls grundig tape deck have problems with mechanism…frequently broken.
How about Tuner? T7500? I have Tandberg 3001A. It is one of the besti feel. What is your opinion about T7500?
Best Regards Kiran xxxxx Simply the best tuner that I know Best Regards Massimo
|
|
Dear Sirs,
Any CD player you would recommend for CCI? Which is your favourite? I have Sony CDP-R3. can i send it to you for CCI? Please offer your opinion.
Best Regards Kiran xxxxx Dear Kiran You have two way possibile for approch to CCI cd player: 1) buy on e-bay one of Grundig cd player full CCI ( cd7550,cd7500,cd35) 2) to execute a full CCI mod. in other commercial cd player. The first solution is less expensive and if you not use the remote control (Grundig cd players have not it) the only problem is the affidability due to age of this cd players…purchase must be a bit fortunate. The second solution I can execute with many cd player, but not on your cdp-r3, and have a cost of 500eur.
Best Regards Massimo |

Good evening,
I've sent you an email few days ago about cable on a grundig system. I've found a way to buy Vivanco hpfl 153, that you used to use for yourself, as I red on your website. But is it possible to use it both for speaker and interconnection? Is it also possible to use it for both aktiv and passive speaker? What could I use if not for interconnection, there are so many references...
From this link http://motxam.interfree.it/Atruths.html you can reed:
Speakers cable: HAMA transparent from 2.5 mm symbol "30728th", if you use connectors instead point line is the most appropriate HAMA 0.75mm.
Interconnect Cable: GBC mod.CA-201, cod.14.1505.00 version blisters (and not in the bag that comes from another supplier and other characteristics), it is also important not to replace the original plastic connectors.
Secondly, I already use an airport system for my music. I red that you did one with cci criteria, how much do you sell it? Thank you for your response.
Sebastien xxxxxx
MA10 integrated 25W/ch without phono: 1200eur MA10 integrated 50W/ch without phono: 1700eur +500eur for phono version. Regards Massimo

Dear Sirs
My friend also liked the sound of XV-7500. He wish to buy V1700 or V7000 CCI fully implemented. Please advice if you have any unit for my friend. And what is the Price? Which one is Good? V1700 or 7000?
Best Regards Kiran xxxxx The only Grundig apparatus that I have all the time is PS1020 and XV7500 that complete the full CCI LT system. If your friend want a V7000 or V1700 (or others full CCI grundig) He can buy on ebay (search in Germany) , shipping to my address (from Germany) for checking/ adjustment CCI and after I send to you. My work have a cost of 70 eur + shipping. Regards Massimo |
|
Dear Sirs
I have started using XV-7500 and my initial impression is that i like the sound. especially High frequancy is excellent. But it is very early to comment. I have listen only for 2 hours so far. I will tell my final opinion after listening for about 50 hours. You have mentioned everywhere that Grundig should NOT be modified or Upgraded or refurbished. Can you explain the reason.
Replacing the old capacitors is also Modification? Should we replace the old capacitors or no? If we replace the old capacitors, CCI benefit will go? sound will be worse? I do not want to replace the capacitors now. But i am worried that this preamplifier is very old, so someday these capacitors will start leaking. So what will i do? can i replace or no?
And if you think we can replace capacitors, then how can we buy the Old capacitors made by Grundig? Can we replace by any other Brand? Do you prefer any other Brand?
Thanks for your answer.
Best Regards Kiran xxxxx
If you want mantain the full CCI sound do not go to the XV with a screwdriver in his hand ! If a capacitor has a problem there is a clear malfunction of xv7500. When you have a malfunction you can ship to me the xv and I repair in guaranteed (excluse shipping cost) with respect for CCI . Please don’t change original capacitor or other components! Is very important not tamper it if do not know the CCI rules… Massimo |

Dear Sir, Dear Mirek
The upgrade (which I
execute only at my laboratory) makes full CCI the amplification of active speakers. The difference between before and after
you hear is about the same of comparing a V1000 (partially CCI) to a v7000 (full CCI): delicacy and air! Dear Massimo, V7200
and V7150 are only partial CCI... |

>hello Massimo. Hi Norbert |
Dear Sirs, I read your site and quite impressed. Please advise if you have any equipments for sale. I am intersted in Grundig xv7500, 1020 and LT amplifers. I live in BAngkok Thailand pin code 10110. Best Regards Kiran Hi Kiran |

Hello Massimo, Dear Dragan You must find only the stylus for M85G (the better cartridge for ps1020) and you can choose between N91G and N75Gt2...both very rare to find in internet... >Dear Massimo, Dear Grzegorz They are both full CCI, cd35x = 16bit, cd35 = 14bit. However I prefer the cd35...the cd 35x is a little bit closed on high frequency (like you can see in frequency response:

hello Hello hello massimo The zero oversampling is very different sound of CCI sound, I don't advice zero
oversampling if you love the music feeling. hello & good morning ciao massimo I advice to you the only CCI models made in Grundig : cd7500, cd7550, cd35. i think the cd7550 is the same like my philips cd304?? |

Hi there, Hello, |

Would DSL speakers play good with grundig amps?
P.s. What
would be the cost of DSL speakers? |
|
Hello Massimo, Dear Jioe |
|
Dear Massimo,
Hello Predrag, Regards Massimo |
Ciao, Signor Massimo.
I am Ante (Antonio) from Croatia.
I have Grunding speakers "super Hi-Fi box 650" and i have found them very realistic even that 2 hi and 1 mid units are broken. I put some other units instead, just for a "first aid". After i have "worm up" for grundig, i found your site. Can you please recommend me what to do with that units - if i can't find originals, is there somethig else that i can put instead? I found hi-fi dome tweeters (60w, 8ohm) from monacor catalogue - are they good enough?
I have opportunity to buy receiver Grundig R35 - can you please tell me is it good / is it in high grundig class?
Thanks in advance.
Ante.
Hello Ante, Regards Massimo |
Dear Sir,
Dear Dusan I don’t know where you could find DIN speakers cables in Vienna but I think possible buy DIN female connectors and make its in home with SCHWAIGER or equivalent speakers cable.

>Dear Massimo, Dear Michael |
>Hello Massimo. > >I have BOX 500 (grundig cable) and about 13m room. I'm waiting for v7000, >v1700, and cd7550. > >1. On your web there isn't much info about IC. >Only SCHWAIGER TFS 2052 (letters) this one: >http://cgi.ebay.de/***-Audioleitung-1,5-m-von-SCHWAIGER-TFS-2052--NEU- >***_W0QQitemZ160323574528QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090324?IMSfp=TL090324128003 >r27086) >but its 2xRCA - 5 DIN and amplifier with CD needs 2xRCA-2xRCA. >Should I use 5 DIN socket (Tape/Tuner) or make it 2xRCA-2xRCA (i'm not >sure if socket makes any difference)?
Hello Seweryn The better solution of interconnect cables is the original Grundig cable, a little (very little) bit worse in Italy is available the GBC cable RCA-RCA 1,5mt : GBC mod.CA-201 cod.14.1505.00 Very worse types that you have linked.
>3. I have Grundig SV 2000 for now (waiting for 1700/7000). Is there any of >the CCI thingy inside ?:) Is it good amp ? very good ? poor ? bad ? >(compare to the v7000/v1700/...) Hope i will see the difference between >them.
Sv2000 is a good (partial CCI) amp but v7000/v1700 are much better.
>4. Can you compare the sound quality of best oryginal grundig chains (like >box300, box500, box850a, 1500a) to nowadays HiFi stereo speakers (b&w, >dali, kef ...)?
Of course...
>Could you give some name and model of a NEW spekers (amps?) that are better >than the best grundig and few that are the same class? >Just want to know how good they are if someone asks.
Sorry I don't know better speakers/amps of the best Grundig (for my ears of course).
>Could you say something more about CCI ?
Sorry....I have work for 25 years about this problem....I am very reserved on this :-) But....you can verify if CCI is true with your ears ;-)
Best Regards Massimo |

Dear Sirs, |
hi Dear I have been through your site number of times, just to understand how deep you were involved in doing research with all these audio components. Actually I do similiar to something what you are doing, but difference could be the price of stuff you deal with (you amps and preamps looks much more expensive).....anyway. With your advice (in the website) I just brought V30 (ofcourse grundig) to try. I was amazed......the quality of sound it was producing was never heard before.I compared it with all my previous ones, luxman, yamaha, sony, marantz even Nad, nothing could stand against it. I am planning to buy SXV7500 and V1700. The only problem I face now is I REALLY NEED a remote control with volume, which these great devices do not have. do you have any suggestion to (somehow) get the same You never discussed V1 or V2 or R1 or R2 ......or FineArts by Grundig. Are they good as well?? Looking forward to hear from you!!! Regards Bandeep Singh Neuenhof Switzerland
Dear Sir For remote control on CCI system you can find one RPC600 or RPC650 . Fine Arts is not good (not CCI) Regards Massimo |
Hello. I'm Kim. I Live in Nancy, France. First of all, I'm appreciate to your site. It's very useful for me. I'll buy grundig amp, cdp. speaker, but my room(residence of university) is so small. about 3.5 x 3m. But so many grundig choice. I don't know what I exatly select suitable for my room There are Grundig Amp V7000(100euro), V35(about 80euro), V20(100euro) and Speaker BOX 350(about 80euro - It's auction), 450(120euro). And I'll buy cd7550 and T7200, so What do my best choice if I buy only one amp + speaker?
Another question is There are huge different between T7200 and T7500? cuz, T7500 price is about 100-110euro but, T7200 is about 30euro. And in Ebay Germany, there is some broken cd7550. If I'll buy this one, could you fix it? I know it's very rude, impolite question. But CD7550 or 7500 is so rare item, and some higher price. Maybe It is some more cheaper than buy normal cd 7550. Last question, Sir you mentioned about some fault about V7000, 35. If I'll buy one of these amp, If you could fix it some detailed falut? And How much including shippment. Thanks for your attention. Best regards. |

Dear Sir,
I was reading your letters whole night and I read very useful information about Grundig products. I am not an audio profi or something like that; I just have friend who collects Grundig amplifiers, tuners, cd-players, speakers… and he told me about your site. I really share opinion with my friend that Grundig is on the top, because I heard few songs from his system and it was really amazing! Last night I purchased two tuners T7500, as you said that Grundig T7500 is best Grundig tuner. I started with tuner and I am going to buy amplifier V7000 (or should I go with V1700?), CD7550 (or CD7500?) and of course 850a profess passive speakers. I would also like to have turntable but I didn’t see much discussions about them. I would like you to recommend me few model which fits, or which would fit, components I am going to buy. And I would like to ask you one last question. Can you supply me with some missing components since it is very hard to find them, especially turntable (of course I would pay)?
Best regards, Dusan xxxxx
Dear Dusan I can supply: -turntable PS1010/1020 complete with cover and original cartridge, checked for CCI conditions and with original NOS (new old stock) Shure stylus N75Gt2 (very very rare to find) -V7000 checked for CCI condition No cd player at the moment. Best Regards Massimo
Dear Sir,
I am going to ask you one more question, for I am waiting on your answer. Is it really necessary to have preamplifier for Grundig PS 1020 turntable, and if yes what do you think about SXV6000? Or can you recommend me few other preamplifiers? I know what you said about XV7500 but it is very hard to find one… almost impossible, I would say… But I would rather connect PS1020 directly to V7000 or V1700 than using preamplifier which can “ruin” beautiful sound; do you agree with that option?
Best regards, Dusan
Dear Dusan
SXV6000 have the same schematic circuit of XV7500 but not the same CCI evolution. I don’t advice sxv6000. I can supply XV7500 checked CCI. Only full CCI preamplifier alternative is the preceiver X55. XV7500 it’s however not necessary and you can have a very beautiful sound with v1700 / v7000 / others CCI amps.

Dear Sir
Hi, I am a fan of Hi Fi systems from Iran. I got to know your home page because I was looking for informations about Grundig Box2500a. I have bought a pair of this speakers last week. They are second hands and I don´t know any thing about them. You say in your home page that this speakesr have a built in amplifiers. I just cheked out mine and unfortunatly there´s just two capacitors incorporated. Would you mind giving me more information about this built in amplifier. Im very upset, altought the speakers sounds grate as it is now.
thank´s a lot
Mohamad
Dear Mohamad,
thanks for your e-mail. As you can see in my website, the speakers that have built-in amplifiers they are called "Aktiv Box". The "Aktiv Box" series is composed by various models: 20, 30, 40 and 50.
Please, check my webpage: http://motxam.interfree.it/Agrundig.html
The passive series looks very similar to the "Aktiv" series. But the passive series (models 850, 1500, 2500) does not have any built-in amplifier.
Anyway, the 2500a is a top-class speaker. You should drive the 2500a using a V7000 or V1700 amplifier. The best CD source to complete the system is the CD7500 – CD7550.

Dear Massimo !
I'm very happy to find your website and your achievments! Especially Grundig story. Lately I;ve bought some old Grundig products: 1. GRUNDIG HIFI BOX 306 COMPACT and 2. GRUNDIG HI-FI Box 503 3. amplituner - GRUNDIG SV 200
is it possible to get good audiophile sound using mentioned above? What is your advice? Did you listen them? Will they play good together? Which loudspeakres are better 503 or 306?
thank you for your advice !
greetings - Artur
Dear Artur,
thanks for your kind message. I think you will enjoy your Grundig components even if they are not the best. Box 306 are better than 503 but the best are the Box 300, 400, 500, 850a, 1500a,2500a. The best amplifier are V7000 V1700, V20, V30 and large Receiver series. You have to find a Grundig CD7500/CD7550 to complete your system.

Dear Massimo, Yesterday I purchased Grundig CD7550. It is in very good condition. And it have a very very good sound. Now, CD7550 is in sistem with Audio Innovations S500 amp and Grundig Box FL-10 speakers. Also I have Denon DCD-2560 and I am starting to compare the sound of these two cd players. First impresions are that CD7550 sounds more lifelike (vocals, percussions, guitars, piano etc )...
I can not find GBC CA-201 cable, what is your recomendation for interconect cable? Here, I can purchase Hama, Oehlbach...
Also here, on the secondhand market, I can purchase receiver R7200 or amp V7150 (T7150, CF7150) now. I am waiting for V1700, V7000, V20 or V30 amps, but until that time, I want to try complete Grundig sistem. What is your recomendation R7200 or V7150?

Hello Slav
Which is the interconnecting cable that you use? Box 650prof are installed on stand or on bookshelf? Ciao, I use about 50 cm high stands and any cheap OEHLBACH Interconect NF 1 My room is about 17 m2 and unfortunately there is only bed and armchair for the time being
Hello For use with stand you must find a box850a prof (650 prof are indicated only for bookshelf installation) Also the interconnecting cable is not CCI compliant and it can cause your problem.
Ciao Massimo

Box450 prof is very similar to box550 prof, if you have a bookshelf installation the better solution can be a box 400.

Hi Massimo,
Can you tell me something about Grundig components V7150, T7150, CF7150, PS1700 and RB640 or where can I find something about them? As I know from your experience, best are CCI components (V7000… ), but how good are these models? I think that models 7150 are from 1985 – 1986?

Hello! Great site! I,ve started collecting grundig equipment! Is the R 30 amplituner similliar to V 30 amp? Would it sound close to the amp. I have box 660 speakers? please let me know, I see big potential in those speakers with my "conventional " amplification. Best Regards. Pawel.
Hello Pawel
The R30 with the same aesthetic of V30 is with loudness not switchable. I don’t advice it. Box660 is a good Grundig box of year 84 with a big potential but it’s not the better series of Grundig speakers (see my website)

Hi Massimo, Now, I listen a Grundig FL-10 on Audio Innovations S500 tube integ. amp. and Denon DCD-2560 cd player. Sound is very very good, only bass is not so strong!
Dear Dragan The bass is dependent to room size and collocation.... In a small room and with listening point near to rear wall you have a good bass with FL10.
What do you think about that model, do you know something about Box FL-10, did you listen it? I only know that Grundig FL-10 is 3-way 4 ohm speaker, with power rating 50W nominal, 75W music (that is writen on the back of the box).
What do you think what is fairly price for FL-10? How much did
they cost when they were new?
You can buy a pair of FL10 on ebay.de to 100-150 eur. It’s not the better Grundig but it’s a very good Grundig box!
I think in these days factories do not make that kind of speakers. Now, everything is in design and marketing, but there is not music! And I did not hear that kind of sound in price range of 1000 euro and more (for pair of speakers).
Right! Also more more over 1000 euro... :-) If you want improve your system you can change also amplifier and cd player with Grundig CCI (see my website). Best Regards Massimo
Please replay!
Best wishes,

Hi- I read your recommended list of components, and am kinda confused as to why you recommend two things- -the DQ10 first edition. What do you mean? The non-mirror imaged ones, or the really early ones with the 7.5 woofers-which incidently almost nobody has heard of. I have 3 pairs of DQ10's-two sets came with non-mirror imaging, and I reworked them to make that happen. The 3rd pair was factory mirrored. I liked the sound of the non-mirrored ones, but liked it better(yeah, what does that mean in audio language-better separation?) mirrored. -the small 3 peg legs. You know, I gotta agree with you there. I have home built (I think the nice word is "custom" built) cherry stands that raise them 14", and I like the sound better with the little legs. Maybe more punch; the correct angle; bass notes from the woof getting a head start over the higher notes, so that they hit the ear at the same time-whatever.
Hope to hear from you about the "early edition" question.
Mike
Hi Mike, I mean the non-mirror imaged DQ10. The non-mirrored configuration is acoustically better than the mirrored. Regards Massimo

Hello there, This weekend I bought two grundig SL1000 Brown collored towers for 40 euro's. I'd like to know what i purchased caus e i absolutely have no clue. I just liked the looks of it very much. I read some comment you gave to Kwang about these boxes. I haven't heard the sound of it jet cause the connection points are not suitable for my stereo. There is only a powerpoint which looks like this _. but then above each other. While i normally use tullips? As you understand now I 'm an absolute no no on this subject, what's the best way to connect them to my stereo?
Hi, congratulations on your purchase. The SL1000 are very fine speakers and they should be matched with others Grundig components.
To connect the speakers to your amplifier, you have to buy a couple of 2 pin DIN plugs and terminate your cables.

Dear Massimo,
with interest I read your website from time to time and I enjoy it each time.
I do not own any of your specially recommended equipment but are interested if you had the opportunity to listen to a Grundig device I do own personally and which does not appear on your site: It is the Grundig Preceiver X55a (in combination with 2 pairs of Aktiv Box 30 and 40), a device from 1979 and back then constructed for combination with Aktiv Box 20/30/40 or 50. Though not especially “neutral” I think the sound is very enjoyable and conveys a lot of musicality.
As the X55a is a class A device I think it was the basis for the construction of the later XV7500 (and SXV6000). Did you listen to X55a and Aktivbox 40 combination and have an opinion on it compared to later Grundig equipment recommended by you (XV7500)?
Kind regards, Michael
Dear Michael Yes, I have listened to the x55a with great satisfaction and it’s a full CCI apparatus as xv7500. The differences between x55a and xv7500 are due to presence of tuner on x55a and to tones control excludible on xv7500.
Tones control excludible is an advantage for xv7500, the tuner (on x55a) causes an impression of more harmonic sound but it’s only due to more insensibility to not correct installation CCI. See link “installation” on my website.
With aktiv box standard (not CCI updated) the x55a supplies a great result but less deep and less delicate than the combination xv7500 + aktiv box LT mod.(CCI updated).

Hello Ritchie,
thanks for your e-mail. The 5000 series is not so good as the best Grundig (full CCI) amplifiers (V7000, V1700, V20, V30, V35).
Best Regards Massimo |

Dear Massimo, Last week I followed your instruction to place cd94mod LT+ v7000 + 850a, and I got fantastic result! I am thinking my xv7500. I don't think that I could have enough money to buy MA50 or DSL speakers. I am wondering whether the xv7500 + Aktiv 30 LT-mod is better than v7000+850a or not? Best Regards, Robert
Dear Robert, if you want to compare active speakers to the passive, you should compare the Aktiv 20 to the 850a and Aktiv 30 to the 1500a as they have the same woofer size. Listening to the Aktiv series with LT modification, the result is a bit more dynamic and the definition higher. But the sonic result is really similar. The Aktiv series must be used on stand (36cm height) and well placed on 4 points.

Dear
Grzegorz, Dear Massimo, Thank you very much for your answer. So I would better look for older models. I have a few questions, because there are a lot of Box's models and I do not know yet the hierarchy between them. The best series is HiFi Box 300/400/500 & 350 (or it is called Compact-Box 350?)? Is the series Super HiFi x50 almost as good as the older ones? What about speakers from this series, but called "Professional" - are they better than the normal ones? I also found Compact-Box series (e.g. 350a, 353) and HiFi-Box xx3 Compact (e.g. 403,313) - how are they? For my room (9m^2, speakers will be on a bookshelf), what models should I look for: from 3xx to 5xx? Or 5xx would not be appropriate (e.g. too big)? I understand and have respect to the fact that the Grundig chain gives the best best results. However, nowadays I cannot change my audio components (maybe in future when I get involved in the Grundig passion :-) ). Sorry for disturbing you with my boring questions. Best regards, Grzegorz xxxxxxx Dear Grzegorz, Massimo |

Dear Massimo,
The DSL shipment along with Grundig CD7500, HiFi Box 300 and other bits arrived safely last Friday while I was on duty out of town. Thank God everything arrived in good shape!
I auditioned the DSL for the first time for almost 2 hours today when my sister came over to listen to some music thru my complete Grundig/LT system (Philips CD960LT, XV7500, MA50 & DSL). To put it shortly we praise the system’s ability to give us a pleasant access to musical listening journey. That may sound simple but certainly not an easy task to carry by any Hi-End systems. Most of them completely fail to achieve it.
However, I’m not sure if my audiophile fellows would agree with my assessment since the DSL surprisingly produces similar open window like the Quad ESL63 from a dynamic speaker design. But it does a better job than the ESL63 in portraying rich details and musical expression. The Quad may sound smoother, warmer and thicker which some may prefer to the DSL.
Even at this stage (not break-in yet) the DSL already sounds very impressive; music flows beautifully and very transparent (no congestion) with rich of musical expression. And I don’t hesitate to say even my favourite ESL63 cannot provide musical details & feelings like the DSL. Music sounds colder and a bit more dull/lifeless thru the Quad despite its unique charms! Does anyone remember Ella Fitzgerald singing a famous Duke Ellington’s composition ‘It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing’???
Sorry Quad ESL/ESL63 lovers but I must admit as a proud owner of both models that the DSL gives you more swing to Count Basie, more heart touching to Billie Holiday, more soul to Wilson Pickett and more boogie to Deep Purple than the the Quads. Got the message now?
As a music enthusiastist, I myself try to avoid to be called an audiophile since I have met so many audiophiles who called themselves audio guru/experts promoting perfect sound but in reality they don’t know what aspects should be justified when listening to music.Oh what a pathetique!
A number of so-called audiophiles prefer to analyse the cosmetic aspects of sounds instead of the basic rendition of musical finesse and expression. Maybe as most of them are musically deaf or blind (illiterate) and not aware of what crucial aspects we should look for when listening to music (NOT sound!). In my humble opinion, harmonics and nuance in music should be one of the very underlying factors when appreciating Hi-End system performance instead of the mambo jumble audiophile terminologies which are irrelevant to the art of music itself. Therefore I don’t believe in hifi/audio magazine anymore but rather take them as bedtime stories to help one fall asleep quickly. Agree?
To me perfect sound means nothing if it does not convey the musical message positively. It’s as simply as that. My relatively short listening experience with a complete Grundig/LT system has reminded me how many Hi End systems I have heard missed to reproduce the true meaningful aspects of music which I now achieve with my LT system. Of course, it’s not perfect but music is becoming closer to the heart. Isn’t that what we are all after?
It’s a simple testimony as a token of my appreciation to the great works of Maestro Ambrosini. Bravo Massimo!
Warmest Regards, Handoko
Dear Handoko,
I am very happy to know you
appreciate my effort to give you the best result today in musical
reproduction.

Dear Massimo, Thank you for your kind reply. I have a friend who called me this morning after hearing the LT system yesterday; he wanted to buy my complete LT system including the Quad ESL63. He is so convinced that he really heard the best sound out of the ESL63 ever in his life. The big question for me is about a system replacement from you. Could you deliver the same equipments (XV7500, CD7500, MA-50) without having to wait too long? Please advise. To give you more exciting news. I just came back from visiting a friend who has very expensive Venture speakers & pre (passive) / power (single ended tube-monoblocks 15W). His turntable is SME’s flagship model, 30 with SME V arm and Koetsu Jade MC cartridge. Total cost for the front-end alone is exceeding US$20,000 + a phono preamp by Ensemble (Swiss made). I brought a Grundig PS1010, VX7500 and MA-50. We keep using the same Venture speakers (using ceramic drivers) to make the comparison less complicated. The PS1010 is using a Shure V15 Type 3 to get a more refined sounding to compete against the Koetsu Jade MC ($5,000). The audience consists of 12 experienced audiophiles who love listening to expensive Hi-End systems but the shocking news is they all prefer the sound of the humble, cheap looking Grundig PS1010 with Shure MM cartridge than the super luxury SME Model 30/ V arm/Koetsu which costs 40 times the Grundig with the V15 Type 3. We played a few different records with various musical genre and still the winner is the ordinary looking PS1010. The listening comparison was so jaw dropping to the audience! I personally felt with great confidence that the Grundig would win the war and that’s why I initiated the idea to arrange the comparison test against the SME without any fear. Everyone was simply astounded with the superiority of the PS1010 to be able to reproduce musical performance, ambience, details, transparancy, correct note, rhythm & pace in the recording much much better than the sluggish & dull sounding of the SME. It’s a night and day difference and the whole game was almost like a joke. We should ignore SME for being so overpriced and a big failure in turntable design. What a shameful politic among the Hi-End manufacturer! Bravo to you, Massimo, for your ingenious ideas to share some great information about Grundig’s best kept secrets and your valuable mission to save our financial status by preventing from buying hifi products who don’t deliver the music. A big gratitude to you! Best wishes, Handoko
Dear Handoko,
Dear Massimo,
For your information, I did not change the original cartridge on the PS1010 which you supplied. I leave it as original to maintain a genuine performance by LT standard.
The PS1010 which was fitted with a Shure V15 Type III belongs to a friend so it is a different unit. And I am also curious if using a V15 Type IV would be even better than the Type III which already killed a $5,000 Koetsu Jade MC. ....... Best Regards Handoko |

Dear Massimo,
Sorry I just got home from a long business trip hence the late reply to you.
Today I connected the MA-50 driving Quad ESL63 with superb results. I use a Grundig XV7500 preamp and CD7500.
Several friends came over my house to listen to the Grundigs + MA50 with the ESL63 and we all think they are the finest and most musical sounding system we have ever heard from Quad speakers!
Thank you very much for your kind help & assistance.
Best wishes,
Handoko
Dear Handoko,
thanks for your e-mail. I am glad to know you are well.

Dear Massimo, With regard to my speaker choice, I prefer floor standing type. So my question is whether the best one from Grundig has to be the Box 1500A. Please confirm. Handoko xxxxxxx
In case of
stand mounted loudspeakers, the best Grundig are the Box 1500a Pro (suitable
for big room) and the Box 850a Pro (suitable for medium room). So it depends
on your room size. The height of stand should be 40 cm. |

Dear Max, I bought a LT MA10 50W without phono about 3 years ago. I have found the performance of this integrated amp really amazing. It has very good 3D soundstage, very natural and musical. I have recently bought a used LINN LP12 Sondek Turntable with Shure V15 Type IV Cartridge (original stylus) and used an Audio Research SP6B preamp as phono stage only. The result is much better than listening to CD. I found the reproduction really real when listening to some good recording. Nevertheless, I should be grateful if you would advise if a single LT MA10 with phono would have much better result than LT MA10 withou phono stage + AR SP6b as phono stage. Furthermore, whether it is worth looking for a Grundig PS1010 or PS1020 turntable to replace the LINN LP12. In fact, I have not seen any used Grundig turntable for sale in the local market. However, I have recently seen some used Grundig turntable for sale on eBay. There are PS2000, PS2500, PS3500, PS3600 & PS4500. Whether they are equivalent to PS1010 or PS1020? Regards, Michael (from Hong Kong)
Dear Michael,
thanks for your comments.
In order to the reach the best performances, the LT amplifier has to be matched only with LT or some Grundig components. The reason is that they are the only hifi equipments featuring CCI technology.
If you connect a standard CD player or phono stage to the LT amplifier, the result is not optimal.
You should use only a CD player LT mod. or Grundig CD7500-7550 for best performances. If you are interested, I can supply them.
In case you want to upgrade your LT MA10 50W and add the phono stage, you can ship back the amplifier and (if not damage) I can change with a MA10 25w with phono stage of actual series with 200euro of difference. This price does not include the shipping cost from and back to Hong Kong.
Your MA10 (of old series) must be placed on a mechanically rigid surface: the best sonically result is reached placing the power amplifier on the floor, instead the actual series have a great difference : is optimized for no sensibility of surface (also soft surface)!
I can also supply the PS1010-PS1020 with original stylus Shure n75gt2 NOS(New Old Stock).
Best regards Massimo |

Hello Massimo, I alway appreciate your so much valuable Grundig informations. I recently read some your new email messages corresponded with other peoples for some topics and found very interesting things that you have mentioned as follows; " ...... V7000 is CCI fully implementation. All modification to this amp goes to a worse quality. R7150 is good but not so good. On v7000 and v30 is present a little detail (CCI influent) assembled with an error (on more exemplair). I have available to correct this error (no cost for members of G/LT mailing list ) . For this you can see also the italian page : http://motxam.interfree.it/grundig.html ....."
But unfortunately I can not understand Italian at all as you know. Could you give me the detailed information for the CCI corrections of V7000 and V30 ? And you mentioned 10 Euros for something(???) in your Italian homepage. Is that fee for the information or what ? Best regards, Kwang

Hello Massimo My name is Konrad xxxxxx. I'm from Poland. I just have purchased V 7000 and I've found it amazing. Previously ! was tuned for telefunken and braun gear and in general german equipment. in my opinon it sounds better than japanese (or more precisely non DIN) HiFi. I'm not electronics specialist but I think there had to be some kind of unification of parameters in "DIN zone" so the the whole system sounds more cultural and less fatiguing. But I was not interested in Grundig at all. First of all grundig has bad opinion in Poland because during communistic times it was (together with thomson) the only international audio brand functioning in socialistic "market" and because there was only very few cheap models of radiorecorders produced (on license), today's Poles see grundig as not serious company. The recent Grundig's and Thomson's production does not make any change in this area : ) Some months ago my friend bought a set of box 40 and we connected it directly to my CD Telefunken HS 950 (it has a regulated output) and... you can imagine what happened... it seemed like evangelical miracle: a deaf one was healed. I did not realized that I have so perfect CD! Then I started to seek some knowledge and I have found your (and my fellow Pole Greg's) website. You both dicovered grundig's miracle, moreover Greg praises some part of Sanyo production for its transparence and fidelity. Greg told me that you have contacted but linguical bareers are to high. Pity. Greg says that he's able to improove selected grundig gear to play even better, you say oppsite: the bricks are perfect, do not touch it. greg seems to be serious specialist and judging on what he writes on his website he knows what he is talking about. Aren't you curious of this? My idea is to say "check the issue". Therefore i propose a little deal: I will order full GAT (Greg Audio Tunning) of V 7000 and will send this unit to you on my expense. Your role is to tell your opinion and send the amplifier back to me on your cost. I hope something good to come out of this. What do you say? greetings kalbar
Dear Konrad,
However it is difficult to speak about these topics

Dear mr. Ambrosini, A year ago I did purchase a B&W DM6 loudspeaker. I am very satisfied with the speakers; they sound wonderful. When searching on the internet I came by your website and find you do appreciate them just as much as I do. However, I am not satisfied with the Luxman LV 103 amplifier and Quad 405 I do use (in fact they are both broken now), so I am looking for some good advice for an amplifier who really fits well with these speakers. I wonder if you do have some advice for me. If you do have some time for an answer I will appreciate this very much. With regards, Hendrik xxxxxx (Amsterdam)
I advice a standard Grundig v1700 for your DM6, but the better solution is with a cd CCI (cd7550-cd7500-cd35 Grundig) . Your Dm6 is the first series (with level control also on woofer) or the second series ? Best Regards Massimo
Hello Massimo, My DM6 is the second series. Does it make a difference? Regards, Hendrik

Dear sir Ambrosini, On looking for a new equipment this summer I saw your website. Because I am not very technical I was surprised by your attractive simple recommendation of Grundig. On my holidays I foundt a V 7000 so I bought it, together with a cassettedeck 7200, so my holydays were wonderful, but I do not yet.have the amp in my home. I have a few questions: * Looking father for Grundig on Google I found a Polish website (www.gregaudio. republica.pl), also with information about Grundig and ICC. I mailed this Grzegorz, but because the website is only Polish and his English is very bad, I cannot get exact information if he has the same ICC principles has as you have. Do you know this website and his activities? * He recommendates the V7000 but he also does modifications (!) at the amplifier. He mailed me and advised also the Reciever R 7150, and mentioned it as "far better than 7000". What is your opinion? * It is difficult for me to get a Grundig 850, 1000, 1500 in Holland, and also on e-bay. For I have a not a small room, I would try to get a B&W dm 6 now. Could you tell me if this is a good combination with the V 7000? I listen mostly to old mono and stereo records, which needs a clear reproduction (otherwise they sound to warm or veiled). If this is not a good combination for my records, can you recommend another clear-sounded speaker? * My pickup now is a MC. So I have to use a step-up ( I have now a simple Lentek) for the phono-input of the V 7000. Would this have a negative influence on the sound- image of the V 7000? If so, can you advise me another step-up? (and if I do not succeed in getting a Shure MM!). * Can you give me the address of people in Holland who have LT-products so that I can listen? * If I want to buy LT-products, can you give me a price-list? That is enough for now, and I hope you will answer me soon. Perhaps I have later some more questions. Rolf xxxxx >* Looking father for Grundig on Google I found a Polish website (www.gregaudio. republica.pl), also with information about >Grundig and ICC. I don't know this website and I am very surprise of it. I have found the exact link: http://www.gregaudio.republika.pl/rekomend.htm but i don't know a on-line program of traslate Polish - English.....can you help me ? I have seen a Sanyo clone of v1700 with transformer changed with a toroidal : absolutely not correct for CCI implementation ! The CCI (Circuit Chassis Interface) implementation is an acronym that I have given to my personal search on the causes of the sound.. Only old Grundig has used such implementation before me.

If you have a little room with DM6 you have too bass......can you tell me the measures of your room ?

A great step ahead you can have with a full CCI system (with turntable ps1010/1020 and a CCI cd player....and cable correct...more important)

Sorry but LT is a little Italian production and only fews amp was going out to Italy.
>* If I want to buy LT-products, can you give me a price-list?
Of corse but I advice before to testing a full Grundig CCI system...... Regards Massimo Ambrosini Dear sir Ambrosini Thank you for your answer. * I am looking for a translation of the polish website. I soon as I have it, I will mail it to you. * Regarding the DM 6, my room has an L-form: 5.5 m x 3.75 m Height is 3 m. + 3.5 m x 5.5 m * I saw on internet the box 2500a prof (being the top model of the 850a, 1500a series). Is this also an interesting speaker or are the other better? * I will try to get a XV 7500. I can buy in Holland a 50 aktiv box now. Because I am not technical, I have a friend who can do something for me (he built his own speakers). Are your modifications at the aktiv 50 simple or difficult to do? Is the aktiv 50 more interesting than a dm 6 or is it better to look after a 1500a prof or SL 1000? What is the difference between 650a, 850a and 1500a (does it have tot do with the room size?). What is the doifference between 650 and 650a; 850 and 850a and so on. * Were can I get information of all types of Grundig equipment 1977-1986? (type numbers, spcifications)
Greetings,
Rolf xxxxx
>* Regarding the DM 6, my room has an L-form: 5.5 m x 3.75 m Height is 3 m. + 3.5 m x 5.5 m
I have no experience with a L room : I don’t can help you. With Your DM6 do you have much bass frequency or not ?
>* I saw on internet the box 2500a prof (being the top model of the 850a, 1500a series). Is this also an interesting speaker or are >the other better?
2500a is a very good speaker but 850a and 1500a are better.
>· I will try to get a XV 7500. I can buy in Holland a 50 aktiv box now. Because I am not technical, I have a friend who can do >something for me (he built his own speakers). Are your modifications at the aktiv 50 simple or difficult to do?
I execute modification CCI only personally (cost of 300euro) but the shipment in Italy of the aktiv would be much expensive . If you want not modify the aktiv box I advice more the solution passive speaker + Grundig standard amplifier (v1700-v7000-v30-v20) that are full CCI implementation (and minus expensive….).
> Is the aktiv 50 more interesting than a dm 6 or is it better to look after a 1500a prof or SL 1000?
You must testing in your room the bass frequency comportment of same : this is the critical point to choose the final speaker.
>What is the difference between 650a, 850a and 1500a (does it have tot do with the room size?).
Woofer and bass frequency extension are different (choose in function of your room)
>What is the doifference between 650 and 650a; 850 and 850a and so on.
The “a” series is made with the better speakers (different from previous series) . The only 650a not exist but there are two models different both named “box650”

Hi, I got few days ago CD960 Philips, It plays quite good, but little mechanical (worse then my cdpro2 with nos DAC) andshelf is not working. I have to take cover down and put cd manualy. I little read about mod for CD960 and wondering how much it cost? Best regards. Bostjan from Slovenia Dear Bostjan, as you can see in my website, my CD960 modification is the solution to a problem that spreads itself in the whole hifi link. This the reason I suggest to assemble a complete hifi system optimized for CCI instead of trying just one component. You can start from suggested amplifiers and sources: Grundig V7000, V20, V30, V1700, Grundig CD7500, CD7550. You should also try a pair of Grundig Boxes following the indications at my website: http://motxam.interfree.it/Ainstallation.html The cost of modification for CD960 is 500euro but I can't suggest you this way if the rest of your hifi system affects the performance of the CD960 modified. Best regards Massimo |

Hi. First - I really love your site.It is not only fun but also very educative. Funny thing is I had quiet a few or your favorites components (quad 63, DQ10 Rodger LS3/5A),and it seem we had some similar experience (and test). Since you are the first and only person that my two componenets (Krell & DQ10) are some of his most favorates,I don't know about anybody better than you to hear from. My dilemma is - I'm going on budget right now,and using the Dahlquist DQ10, and I have an Opportunity to purchase the Krell KSA 50, and I'm wandering what do you think about this combination? The seller said it is a peach match with the DQ10,but as you know,he is the seller?! (he might be righr, but he is also a little biased). Do you think it is the best match I can do for no more that $1000 on the Amp? (My preamp is the precision Fidelity C-7A ,phono only). I would love to hear from you, and really looking forward for your thoughts and advice. I think my wife is going to kill me - as i'm spending too much time on your site. But hey - it is fun!!!! Best regards.Elli Hi thanks for your positive comments on my site. As you can see in my pages, the old Grundig amplifiers (v7000, v1700, v20, v30) are my favourites and, in my opinion (and after some test comparisons) they are even better than Krell. Unfortunately they have never been distributed in the U.S.A. and they were produced only for european voltages (220VAC or 240 VAC). In this case you can go for Krell KSA50. You will be not disappointed. Best regards Massimo Ambrosini Thanks much Massimo for your time and input. I'm going to look for either Grundig Amp or turntable - who know - maybe i'll fing a good deal in the U.S.A voltage.I'll let you know in this case. Thanks again Massimo!!!! Best regards.Elli |

Dear Massimo, Little bit a long time has passed since I have corresponded wiith you. I now have some more Grundigs. I will soon upgrade my photos in the yahoo Grundig/LT forum. I introduced Grundig CCI and LT system to a online internet audio forum in South KOREA. Some peoples are interested in the Grundig and LT stories anyway. Fortunately I recentely could have a chance to buy a set of box 300 . It has not only very clear and transparent sound along with mid -high range but also quite quite cute in bass-extension. Attached the photos of my box 300. Could you please check whether it is good and normal compare with original one especially for the edges ? Best regards Kwang
Dear Kwang,
looking at
photos of your Box 300, it seems they have not any external problem. Please
consider that Box 300 are very critical in placement and set-up.
Dear massimo, Thank you for your very valuable comments. Is felt foot not original one ? Best Regards, Kwang
Dear Massimo, Thank you for the prompt reply. Could I ask you one more question ? Is sound quality(?) of box 600 equivalent to that of box 500 and 650 pro when it is matched with v20 or v7000 ? Best Regards, Kwang Dear Kwang The box 600 is very good speaker but a little bit worse of box 650prof. and (if placed on a shelf of 50-55cm) box 500. Best Regards Massimo |

Hello, |

Dear Sir, upgrading if it's not too much
trouble for you. The pre amp is ML 26 and the phono stage is ML 25. Cd player is the Audio Research cd 3 and a Nacamishi Dragon completes the music sources. The amp is a stereo ML23.5. All the wires are NBS Signature and Master( Interterconnects, speaker, power) Finally the speakers
are the KEF 107/2. your expert opinion of these items.
Dear George, I am sorry but I am not used to give opinions about other products than my recommendeds. You can find in my website the components that I suggest:
http://motxam.interfree.it/Arecom.html
and especially, if you ask for the best:
http://motxam.interfree.it/Atop.html http://motxam.interfree.it/Ainstallation.html (bottom page)A simple Grundig V1700 or V7000 with a CD7500/7550 and PS1010/1020 is better than ML/AR. You should try it.

hi, i found on Your site informations about the old grundig CD Player - the cd 7550. If I can, I have a question to You. Do You heart the Philips cd 304? It's a player of the same Years, and the construction is the same, the diferent is the Toshiba Ram in the Grundig CD 7550, all others looks the same. Thanks for the answer
Best Regards Jacek
Hi Jacek, Grundig CD7550 is apparently similar to the Philips but some technical solutions and the sound are completely different.
Best regards Massimo
Thank's for the answer :)
I heard yesterday the grundig CD7550 it's play very well, and the sound is much better as the of 304 :) I was always thinking, that the 7550 and the 304 ist the same player, I had the 7550 over 2 Years, and after hearing 304 I don't heart the 7550 :) Thanks fot the info :)

Hallo Massimo, Dear Michael, |

Dear Massimo, I've sent you an e-mai a couple of month ago, concerning my broken v1700 and the v7500. Now I had a little time to try to repair my v1700. I found that some transistors and two diodes (D702,D703) were defective . I was able to get the transistors but no one can tell me what the indication of the diodes is. Could you please lookup the description of the diodes or send me the schematic diagram of the v1700. with best regards, Matthias
Dear Matthias the diodes D701,D702 and D703 are all "DX442X" For other question you can join to new (english) mailing list of enthusiast of Grundig LT : Best regards Massimo |

Hello Massimo, Can you post the question on new mailing list ? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Grundig_LT_friends_intl/ I answer to you on mailing list. Thank you Massimo |

Hello Mr. ....... First excuse my English, which is not the best. I live in Germany and I am electronic engineer. I douldn't find your name on your website, sorry! You tell a coupling between electronic and chassis and I suppose, you mean an amplifier. What kind of mystery are you carrying with you? *smile* Your website is more than interesting!!! Best regards Stefan
Dear Stefan, my name is Massimo Ambrosini. The C.C.I. problem can affect active components (amplifier, preamplifier, source) and also passive components (speaker, cable). I am sorry but I do not intend to explain what it does concern. Please, refer to my website and other letters

Hello Massimo, Eventually I have a Grundig V20 amplifier, Aktiv Box 30, Box Pro 650a and Box Pro 550a. As a novice I' like to express that V20 + Box pro 650a combination gives me the best feelings among them for about a week listening of various genre of musics. And it is little bit curious for me that I feel a lot differences in sound propensity between Box Pro 650a(3-way) and Box Pro 550a(2-way) even they are almost same sizes and external shapes. I wonder whether the both of them are retaining the original sound quality or may be some degraded in. Also I do not understand the function differences between active amplifiers like in Aktiv Box and the passive networks in Box exactly. Which type is more adaptable or effective for my V20 amplifier ? Could my Aktiv Box 30 built-in amplifier be easily modified to the Linear Transfer modification as you mentioned ? Best regards, Kwang Hello Kwang, congratulations on your purchase of Grundig products. Grundig Box Pro 650a are optimized for placemement on stand. The Pro 550a are optimized for bookshelf. This can explain the different acoustic frequency response. But it is also possible that speaker components are damaged or degraded due to the age. To really evaluate these components I hope you will find a Grundig source (CD7500 or CD7550). Passive speakers (650a, 550a) must be connected to an amplifier (like your V20). Active speakers (Aktiv 30) must be connected to a preamplifier (the best is the Grundig XV7500). I can modify Aktiv 30 but you have to ship the speakers to me, here in Italy. The cost of modification is 300 euro (excluding shipment). Best Regards Massimo
Dear Massimo, Thank you for your very valuable comments. Oh sorry that I didn't mention Grundig CD7500 player which I got already. I have used very good condition of CD7500 player with original cables as source for my brief evaluation. I can now understand why the combination of V20 + Box Pro 650a is better than the combination of V20 + Aktiv Box 30. But I still have some questions about the combination of preamplifier (XV 7500) + Aktiv Box 30. You mean those combination doesn't need any power amplifier further ? The preamplifier output could be connected directly to Aktiv Box ? So Grundig Aktiv Boxes are just dedicated speakers for Grundig preamplifiers ? I think that the former users of Aktiv Box in Korea mostly did not realize such an important facts. Any comments should be very helpful for me anyway. Many thanks, Kwang
Dear
Kwang, Dear Massimo, You may be confused for my questions concerning about Grundig Aktiv Box 30. I am not still sure but my Aktiv Box 30 which I bought in Korea may be already modified one. Since it has no connections for amplifier except R+L connectors as normal passive type speakers. Which passive network (such as Box 850's or 650's etc) may be very compatible to my Aktiv Box 30 if I would like to use it as passive type speaker. Any comments should be very valuable for me. Best regards, Kwang
Dear Kwang, ...... Dear Kwang,
I am sorry to tell you that your Aktiv Box has been modified: somebody removed the amplifier and active crossover network. I am sorry to tell you that it is not possible to replace them with a passive crossover network featuring the same Grundig original assembling. I can suggest only you can keep woofer, midrange and tweeter as replacement parts for other Grundig Box Professional series.

Hello there,
Hello Peter,
the LT-mod for CD960 involves the solution of the C.C.I. (Circuit Chassis Interface) problem. As I worked very hard and so long to understand how the C.C.I. works and the solution of this problem, I do not intend the offer any technical explanation except of what you can read in my website.
I am really sorry. Best regards Massimo |

Hi, Dear Andre', |

Hello Massimo, I thank you very much for your wide band informations concerning about Grundig vintage audios I am interested very much. Here in Korea we could see very few kinds of Grundig speakers, receivers and amplifiers. I recently found a GRUNDIG SUPER HIFI-BOX 850 PROFESSIONAL von 1977 at ebay Germany can be shipped to worldwide. Do you have any information for the above speakers Any comments would be very helpful for me. Thanks, Kwang Dear Kwang The box 850 prof. is a very good speaker ( a little bit worse of "box 850a prof.") . Required a Grundig (or LT) system (with CCI applications) for the best performances. Best Regards Massimo
Dear Massimo Thank you very much for your prompt comments. A month ago I got a box 550 prof. but felt little bit shortage for the bass extension. So I am looking for a more big size Grundig box prof. I also found a Grundug V 20 amplifier and am trying to get it anyway. Many thanks Kwang
Well ! V20 with 850 prof is a very good "listening feeling" :-) Best Regards Massimo |

Hello Massimo I find your website very interesting. Yes, The old grundig sound was much better than its contemporaneous hifi systems on the market and even nowadays its hard to find ordinary equipments tat match the quality of them. Not only amplifiers and speakers were unrivaled but also cassette decks and tuners could record and produce a superior sound. I suggest you should launch a new hifi series sharing the same philosophy or convince the new grundig engineers to follow the same updated line again. It would be a great success. To improve your website it would be a good idea to complete the grundig story with more good products and photos. Also include more affordable items in your recommended products. I have the the old grundig mini hifi system mxv 100, ma 100, mcf 400, aktive bosx xm 400 and wouldn´t change it for a modern standard one. Greetings from Spain. Lorenzo xxxxxx
Dear
Lorenzo, |

I read your article on hi-fi.
Is it still possible to locate the Gale speakers GS 401 or 401A.
Any idea what a fair price for a set of two would be?
Thanks. Eric
Gs 401 are a very good speakers but a little bit worse (for example) to Dahlquist DQ10 (and to some models of Grundig). In Italy the price is around to 700-800 euro. Regards Massimo |

Hi Massimo, I have the opportunity to buy a Grundig MXV100, MA100 and MT100. Do you recommend? I would appreciate very much your opinion of that mini system. I would like to find out information about it. Best regards, Krassi
>I have the opportunity to buy a Grundig MXV100, MA100 and MT100. Do you recommend?
Good series of 1980 but not the better Grundig. See this page : http://motxam.interfree.it/Agrundig.html

Hi I couldn't help but read your posting some months ago. I had a secondhand V15 type III cartridge which I sold off two yrs ago (it was included with a turntable that I didn't need). After selling it, I read reviews about it being one of the best V15's around. The only review to the contrary was yours. Well now I must say I agree with your review. I recently got ahold of two V15 type III cartridges and two new styli under Shure's trade in program. Shortly thereafter, I found a curiousity item at my local electronics shop. The old-timer saved some old cartridge bodies, one of which was a Shure Tracer 1 with a broken stylus. Needless to say, I cross-referenced it and found the M97HE stylus was a match for it. I bought the NOS stylus (from stereoneedles.com) along with finding a M97 sales brochure. .........OK, on to why I'm writing this. Well, my friend (who uses a V15 type II with NOS stylus) and I decided to compare his type II to the type III and M97HE era IV (which compares to the V15 type IV). Well to my amazement, the M97era IV actually sounded the best overall! I'd even say the type II sounded pleasing too though a bit weak on higher frequency details (but for some very strange reason, the type III with MR stylus is just a bit too bright on the top end and not as rich sounding as either the II or IV). Oh, and one last note: I have a Shure V15 IV body without stylus (and am seriously considering the NOS genuine stylus for $159 - yet am going to be hard pressed to consider changing that M97 era IV now that I've heard it). My thoughts. ........Paul
Hello
Your thoughts are
fine.

Hi Massimo,
I have the opportunity to buy a Philips CD303 which looks very similar to the Grundig CD7500. Do you recommend?
Or do you prefer to buy a CD7550. I could also buy a Philips CD960 here in the Netherlands for 100 Euro and modify it to LT.
Any suggestions on the best option for me?
Rest of my setup: V7000 and Box500/Box450
Best regards, Göran
Dear Göran, The Philips CD303 looks very similar to the Grundig CD7500 but it is very different. Do not buy it. First step: buy the Grundig CD7550 (with a Grundig cable) and enjoy its sound. 100 Euro for a Philips CD960 is a good price but the LT modification is quite expensive (500euro). Hope this helps. Massimo
Hi Massimo,
I have bought the CD7550 (for 50 Euro), Germany is not so far for uw. After warming up thoroughly it functions well, and sounds very good (full, open sound). It seems like the V7000 is opening up also with this CD player compared to the former one (high-end stuff).
At least I have a full Grundig setup now, and it is very enjoyable to listen to...
The only thing I miss now is a Grundig cable, do you know where I can get them as Ersatzteile or something?
Best regards, Göran
Dear Göran, I am very happy you enjoy the sound of Grundig setup compared to high- end stuff. You can look for Grundig cables only in second hand market or ebay. As an alternative: http://motxam.interfree.it/Atop.html Best Regards Massimo |

Saw your post about owning the Studio 3. I am thinking of buying a used pair and was interested in your experience with these. I have proac tablettes, EBT's and Sc1's so I have some experience with the brand. I under stand these are also called 'EBS', true. Do you know the original pricing? I have checked the blue book. Your comments are appreciated
The Studio 3 EBS (extended bass system) is different model with the same drivers of Studio 3 but in different box for maximum extended bass. Sorry but I don't remember the original price. Regards Massimo Ambrosini |

Hi Massimo, Dear Ludwig I am happy you have found a Grundig speaker in Taiwan. As you can see in my website, the 660a is just a bit worse than the 650a:
http://motxam.interfree.it/Atop.html
As already told you, the old Grundig went bankrupt in the late '80s.The 650a, 660a and others speakers are out of production. In Europe the Ebay quotation for these kind of speakers is 100 - 150 Euro. Please, remember to match the Grundig speaker with Grundig (or LT) amplifier and source to enjoy its sound.
Best Regards Massimo |

Hi Massimo. Dear Elli, I've never listed the Dynaco in my recommended page. You will find my favourites equipments at: http://motxam.interfree.it/Atop.html You will find my recommended (second choice) at: http://motxam.interfree.it/Arecom.htmlBest Regard Massimo |

Dear Sir, Very sorry to disturb you. I found one pair of grundig speaker BOX-5000 in Ebay of Taiwan. Do you have any idea of this speaker ? Does it sound good? I wanna own a Grundig speaker but I am afraid of getting the wrong one. Thanks in advance. Best, Ludwig xxxxx

Hello, Dear Frank |

Hi Massimo. I really enjoyed reading your recommended components, and to my surprise, the two speakers you recommended are the two speakers I own.I guess I wanted to ask your advice :I just changed from the quad ESL 63 to the DQ10. I also sold my Audio research classic 60,and I'm in the used market for a good used amplifier to drive the DQ10, and also my ESL 63, in the range of about $750.It can be either solid state or tubes.(My pre is Conrad Johnson PV11). It will be great and very appreciative if you could give me some ideas or recommendations? (I was thinking about Bryston 4B or Conrad Johnson MV50, but I haven't heard any of them). Looking forward to hear from you. Regards.Elli

Hi Massimo, I'm very satisfied with my new (old) V7000, even compared to my Sugden A21a (being accustomed to Sugden sound for 25 years, but would like to check whether there are any problems with mounting of components inside, as you mention in the forum and on the Italian site. Is there any way to do that check myself, and possibly correct it? I still need Grundig speakers of course to get the optimal result and have ordered Box 450's, any suggestions on those... Thanks, Göran The Netherlands Sorry but I check the v7000 only at my home . If you want shipping to my address, cost of checking (and correct mounting of components inside) is 10 euro + shipping cost. Box 450 is very good , better are 400-350-300. Regards |

Hi Massimo, I read the Grundig story on your web-site and found it interesting. I own a Grundig V1700 for about 15 Years an was always satisfied with it. Unfortunately the left channel of both speakers and headphones broke. Now I bouht a Grundig V7500 ( I don't have it yet ) and wanted to find out something about that amp. Is it compareable to the V1700, because I think the V7500 was built a little bit earlier? Or should I try to fix the V1700? Any advice is welcome! Greetings from Germany, Matthias
Hi Matthias My advice is : try to fix the V1700. V7500 is good amp but a little bit worse. Best Regards |

Greetings, I have been reading your site and am very interested in your discoveries and your opinions. I emailed you a few weeks ago about Grundig amplifiers (I currently have a Naim Nait 2 with Audiomasters 15ohm Ls3/5a's). I have seen a few V7000 and V1700 sell on Ebay.de, but I cannot use the amplifiers because they are all set to European voltage (220-240v) and I am in the USA (110-140v). Is there a voltage step-down device I can use? Can you recommend another integrated amplifier that might be available in the USA? also, I have found lots of old Grundig speakers on Ebay lately for example these Box 412: xxxxxxxxxxxx Do they sound good? They look very nice and I am curious how they would sound on my Naim compared to my ls3/5a's. I also found this MXV 1000 preamplifier, for 120v: xxxxxxxxxxxxx Is this any good? can it be used with a regular amplifier? Thank you for your site and all of your insight, which I respect very much. By the way, I listen to mostly classical piano - and I am also a fan of Michelangeli - especially his Schumann Carnival and of course, his Debussy. Thanks a lot, Jonathan Box 412 and mxv100 are not a very good Grundig. For the boxes you can find in ebay de , for amp and preamp the voltage is a problem ! If available in your country you can use an external trasformer (input 110v - output 220v)..... or wait to find the amps Grundig in US ! No other amplifier I can recommended. Best Regards Massimo |

Hello, I just wanted to thank you for all the interesting information on your website. I im looking for an amplifier for my 15ohm Audiomaster LS3/5a's and wondered what you could recommend? I am using a Naim Nait 2 right not and i feel they are underpowered. I cannon find any Grundig amplifier anywhere here in New York. Please let me know of your opinions, thanks ciao You can find a Grundig on ebay (Germany),the connection with 3/5a 15ohm is very good and much most transparent of the Naim. I advise the model V7000, V1700, V30, V20 . All excellent. Ciao |

Dear Sir, I have with great interest read your Listening Feeling pages, and especially your recommendations of old Shure cartridges. I totally agree, with one important exception. You state that M 75 ED is a bad cartridge. Why ? I have many of the old good Shure cartridges (and old Dual record players, incl. 701 and 1219). In my opinion the Shure M 75 ED is a great tracker, but requires a very light tone arm because of very high compliance. And I guess you are aware that the new Shure replacement styli are very bad. You must order NOS Shure styli from the 1970-80 production (nude diamonds). These are very difficult to find. Then Shure M 75 ED is perhaps the worlds best cartridge. Regards Kjell Dear Sir The Shure M75ED is not a bad cartridge but in my opinion the stylus (original) N75G or N75G T2 is very better ! > And I guess you are aware that the new Shure replacement styli > are very bad.
Yes, very bad!
> You must order NOS Shure styli from the 1970-80 production (nude diamonds). > These are very difficult to find
I have the same problem... :-)

Hi, I have an opportunity in buying an Audio research D70 amp at a very low price. I was interested in knowing what you think about this amplifier. Thank you for your time. Stéphane The D70 is a storical good Audio Research and if you can buy it a very low price this is an opportunity (if dont'like it you can sell everytime). When you have bought the D70 , you can test a old Grundig amplifier (v7000 , v1700, v20, v30 etc) if you want listen the difference ! Regards Massimo |

Dear Sir, I have just visited your website and am very interested in Linear Transfer products because I like Grundig sound. What Linear Transfer products are supplied to the market and how they can be brought in Hong Kong. Regards, Michael The LT production is a little amatorial production with directly distribution in Italy. The only means for buy LT is a shipping (expensive) from Italy ! Regards Massimo |
